Tim Hoffman Obituary, Death – Tim Robert Hoffman, 61, died on January 12, 2023. On June 25, 1961, in Detroit, Michigan, he was born to Robert Hoffman and Joan (Withey) Hoffman. Tim married Melanie Gaddis in Charlevoix, Michigan on August 6, 2016. He grew up in Charlevoix, Michigan, and spent his summers there and on nearby Walloon Lake after moving. Tim will be remembered as an active and positive Christian who adored his family. Tim worked for McDonnell Douglas after serving in the Navy, where he received awards for his work on the C-17 aircraft. He later opened the Hoffman Agency in Hartland, where he served many people’s insurance needs. He was an active member of the Hartland Chamber of Commerce and a local Business Network International networking group.
Tim was gregarious, well-liked, and always on the go. He was selfless, compassionate, and encouraging all the time. If given the opportunity, he would talk to anyone and everyone, including people in nearby cars at stoplights. Tim was a man of character who lived his life with a “cup half full” attitude. He volunteered extensively, including regularly donating blood, hosting Bible studies, participating in men’s ministries, and serving in numerous ministries at Cornerstone Church in Brighton.
Tim’s primary concern was his family. He was particularly fond of dotting on his granddaughters. His daughters will miss his wisdom and counsel greatly. Tim adored his pets and even the neighborhood animals, such as Black Jack, a wild crow he fed and nurtured shortly after hatching and kept for years. He created a light and humorous atmosphere, with endearing “dad” humor. Tim was tenacious, active, and athletic, regularly participating in tennis, swimming, boating, fishing, water skiing, and other water sports, as well as basketball. He had a healthy appetite and especially enjoyed desserts.
His Parents… Tim is survived by his wife, Melanie; his children, Aubrie (Brian) Eaton and Michelle Hoffman; stepchildren, Ellie Tingstad and Heidi Tingstad; his father, Robert (Shirley) Hoffman; siblings, Paul (Shauna) Hoffman, Lisa (Clay) Miller, Carla (Steve) Dick; grandchildren, Maricela and Sofia; his children’s mother, Kathryn Thompson; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Joan Hoffman, his mother, died before him.
