
Theodore Beck Death, Obituary – The news of Theodore Beck’s passing has left all of us here at ColumbiaPage in a state of mourning. His family and his firefighter family at the Stuyvesant Falls Fire Department are in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. Ted received the Firefighter of the Year award for the year 2015. The following is a portion of the story:
The New York State Department of Firefighting is grateful to have the 2015 CCVFA Firefighter of the Year. Over the course of more than half a century, Columbia County and the individuals that make up the Fire Service. County Car No. 6, which serves as the Deputy Fire Coordinator for Columbia County Theodore Beck, sometimes known as “Ted.”
The nominations for Deputy Coordinator Beck came in from a wide variety of departments and businesses from all around the county. He has devoted over 25 years of his life to serving the community as a county and state fire teacher. Because of the knowledge and training he has supplied, he has affected the lives of an uncountable number of people and has possibly prevented the loss of more lives than any of us will ever be able to know. Ted has been a volunteer with the Stuyvesant Falls Fire Department for many years and was one of the original members of the Columbia County HazMat team.
Ted serves as a fantastic model and source of motivation for everyone else in the fire department. May you rest in peace till we are reunited someday. On January 14, 2023, Theodore Richard Beck, 85, of Leesburg, Florida, was summoned home to be with his “Special Angel,” which was his wife, Dolores Beck. He was the son of Theodore Martin Beck and Dorothy Louise (Hartigan) Beck, both of whom passed away before his birth on June 26, 1937 in Albany, New York. Before he retired, Ted worked as a truck driver for the Teamsters union for a number of different businesses, the most recent of which was based in Albany, New York’s Grimm Building Materials.
Although he was born and raised in Albany, he lived in Columbia County for a good portion of his life and then moved to the Sunshine State of Florida for a number of years. It didn’t matter where he set up shop, he always made a point to volunteer his time and energy to the local community.
