Terry Cassidy Obituary, Death –  The community of Quinte West is in mourning following the passing of one of its most active and long-serving community activists and politicians. Terry Cassidy, a member of Council, passed away sometime during the night of Saturday into Sunday. In 1991, Councillor Cassidy won election to the Quinte West City Council for the first time. He was a councillor for the Sidney Ward for a total of 23 years, and during his most recent tenure on council, he held the positions of vice-chair of the Fire and Emergency Services Committee, member of the Planning Advisory Committee, and Accessibility Advisory Committee.

Councillor Cassidy had a profound love for his family and community, and he was an ardent supporter of initiatives to enhance internet connection in rural areas, reduce housing costs, and strengthen environmental protection. “Councillor Cassidy was a pillar of our community who was an outstanding colleague, friend, and long-standing member of Council. He will be much missed.” Throughout his career, he was an advocate for a wide variety of significant causes, and he will be remembered as a community supporter with a kind heart. “He was a good friend to all of us, and we shall miss him,” said Mayor Jim Harrison.

As a mark of respect and in memory of Councillor Cassidy, the flags atop Quinte West City Hall will be lowered. Beginning on Monday, January 16, condolence books will be available for purchase in the lower level lobby of City Hall.
