A 18-year-old male was shot many times in broad daylight at a park in the Flemingdon Park neighborhood, sustaining critical injuries. Just before 1 p.m., police in Toronto were summoned to the area of Don Mills Road and Overlea Boulevard in response to allegations of a shooting. “Eventually, officers located the crime scene. We discovered traces of shooting in one of the parking lot locations at ET Seton Park, Acting Inspector Jason Albanese informed reporters at the site. “Officers discovered an 18-year-old male victim with two gunshot wounds to the upper thigh region of each leg. He was then brought to a nearby hospital in stable condition, where he is currently receiving surgery for his injuries.”
Albanese stated that three area schools were placed on lockdown as a precaution since officers were unable to immediately locate the murder site. Those orders have been lifted since then. Albanese stated that approximately ten people appeared to have congregated in the park previous to the incident. Afterwards, he reported that three suspects ran westward via the park and into the ravine system. No suspect descriptions are supplied so far.
“Several witnesses came forward and provided us with possible sightings of suspects,” Albanese added. “Our canine and ETF teams were in the area monitoring and searching for suspects, however we were unable to catch anyone in connection with this crime. However, our investigative teams are on-site, and we will continue the investigation and, hopefully, reach a speedy resolution.” Police are requesting anyone with knowledge on the shooting to contact investigators or Crime Stoppers.
