Tara, Queensland – In response to reports that shots were fired in the Tara neighborhood located in Queensland’s Western Downs, the police have declared a state of emergency in that region. On Wednesday afternoon, about 3:30 in the afternoon, police officers reacted to reports of shots being fired in the area. The declaration of a state of emergency took place at 5:30 in the evening. There have been no recorded injuries, according to the police; nonetheless, a certain area has been cordoned off and a large number of residents have been relocated.
The exclusion zone includes not only the police station but also Surat Development Road, Day Street, Benn Street, Fry Street, and Milne Street as well. Everyone who is currently inside this zone has been requested to remain inside for the foreseeable future. ABC has received information from locals who claim to have heard multiple gunshots. Reports from the police indicate that crews from stations in the nearby area have responded to the situation.
One month ago, a tragic shooting incident took place on a property in the neighborhood, which resulted in the deaths of two law enforcement officers, a resident of the community, and three of the assailants. The shooting took place on a property that was located close. The incident resulted in the hamlet receiving extensive notice in the media.
