Steve Shifflett Obituary, Death – Officers and members of the Newburg Volunteer Rescue Squad & Fire Department & Auxiliary would like to express their deepest condolences and tell you that it is with incredibly heavy hearts that they must inform you of the passing of Past Chief Steve Shifflett. They say that it is with this news that they must inform you of the passing of Past Chief Steve Shifflett. They express their deepest condolences for the news that they had to break it to you that he has passed away. On Friday, January 13, 2023, he died away painlessly and peacefully without putting up any resistance.

Steve’s tenure as a volunteer with our organization officially started on February 5th, 2002. In addition to that, he was volunteering his time with the Charles County Mobile Intensive Care Unit at the same time. In total, he contributed a considerable quantity of work to our department, which equated to several hours’ worth of his time. Within our company, he had a number of responsibilities before ascending the ranks to become the Chief of Emergency Medical Services in 2004 and the Chief of the Fire Department in 2009. In addition to that, he held a number of different positions within our company.

Steve was chosen to receive the honor of “Firefighter of the Year” for 2009 by each and every member of our fire department.
