
Riley Alexander Obituary, Death – Riley Alexande, who was a resident of Harrisonburg, Virginia, passed away on Monday, February 20, 2012, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital. Born on February 11, 1936 in Gainesville, Florida, he was the son of the late Riley A. Knowles and Ruth Florence (Robinson) Knowles. He passed away on February 11, 1996. His mother passed away before he was born. In the years leading up to his enlistment in the United States Air Force, he established his home and formal schooling in the city of Los Angeles.
He had served his country honorably for almost 20 years prior to taking his retirement from the armed forces. After owning and operating Riley’s Electronics in Harrisonburg for more than 20 years prior to his retirement, he decided to call it quits and pursue other interests. Both the Gideon’s International organization and the Harrisonburg First Church of the Nazarene, which he attended on a consistent basis, saw him take an active role in their respective ministries.
On July 4, 1956, he married Ruth (Swope) Knowles, who is still living at this day. They have remained married up till the present day. In addition to his wife, he is survived by their two daughters, Robin-Sue K. Ritenour of Greenwood, South Carolina, and Regina Darcus and her husband Ronnie of Rockingham County; their son, Richard L. Knowles and his wife Connie of Harrisonburg; their half-brother Jack Vincent of Los Angeles, California; and their seven grandchildren, Lisa Marie Ritenour, Cody L. Ritenour, Amanda J. Ritenour, Travis J. Ritenour, and Kay Before he did, two of his children and one of his granddaughters went away. Randall Alan Knowles, one of his sons, and Jessica Lynn Ritenour, one of his grandchildren.
