Ralph Newtown Obituary, Death – Ralph Harvey Newton, who resided in Elkton, Maryland, and passed away on January 17, 2023, was 79 years old at the time of his passing. Born in Elkton on May 9, 1943, he was the son of Ralph Newton, who had previously passed away, and Evelyn Martindell Newton, who had previously also passed away. Both of his parents had previously also passed away. Ralph had a history of working as a law enforcement officer for both the Elkton Police Department and the Cecil County Sheriff’s Office. His most recent position was with the Elkton Police Department. In addition to that, he had spent a large amount of time working as a security guard at both Thiokol and the Cecil County Courthouse.
Elkton was the center of his world, and he looked back on his career as a law enforcement officer with a sense of immense pride. Ralph was a kid from the neighborhood who was content with appreciating the uncomplicated pleasures that life has to offer. He was an active participant in the activities of the Fraternal Order of Police, the National Street Rod Association, the Cecil County Farm Museum, and the Historical Society of Cecil County. He remembered everyone he had ever met, and he liked to eat home-cooked meals, hang out with friends, go to car shows, take day trips to Pennsylvania or Rock Hall, and take day vacations to other states. He also enjoyed taking day trips to other states.
His wife of 41 years, Paula Henderson Newton, together with many other members of his family and friends, in particular members of the Galyen family, are all that are left to cherish his memory. Ralph’s daughter Donna, who was only a little child when she went away, joined the ranks of his deceased parents in passing away before Ralph did. The family would like to take this opportunity to thank the staff at Amedisys Hospice for the outstanding care they have given their loved one over the course of the past month. On the day of the funeral, which is scheduled to take place at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 21, 2023, at the Hicks Home for Funerals located at 103 West Stockton Street in Elkton, Maryland, visitation will begin at 9 a.m. on that day.
