
Paul White Obituary, Death – After his unfortunate death in South Australia yesterday, former NT Police Commissioner Mr. Paul White APM is recalled as a gentle and modest man.
Mr. White and our Association had a good working relationship, which will be felt throughout the Territory, according to acting NTPA President Owen Blackwell.
He always had the soldiers’ best interests in mind. Many of his policies were created with this real concern for the officers in his police force in mind.
Mr. White enjoyed a high level of respect from the general population and the police. According to Mr. Blackwell, he will leave a tremendous vacuum in the community of the Northern Territory.
After his tragic passing in South Australia yesterday, the Northern Territory Police Association (NTPA) believes that Mr. Paul White APM, the former NT Police Commissioner, would be remembered as a kind and modest man.
Mr. White and the NTPA had a good working relationship, which would be missed across the Territory in his absence, according to temporary NTPA President Owen Blackwell. Anyone who knew Mr. White could attest to the fact that he was an admirable Commissioner. He always had the soldiers’ best interests in mind. Many of his policies were created with this real concern for the officers in his police force in mind.
“Mr. White had a significant impact on NT law enforcement. One achievement was the successful execution of Operation Themis’ 2007 Federal Intervention, which had a significant impact on the agency’s workforce and resources. Two additional notable achievements include the Northern Territory’s innovative intelligence-led policing and the advocacy of legislation to combat illicit motorcycle gangs. Mr. White made a large donation to the NT Police Legacy after leaving the police department in 2009. Mr. White enjoyed a high level of respect from the general population and the police. According to Mr. Blackwell, he will leave a tremendous vacuum in the community of the Northern Territory.
