Paul Weldon Obituary Maryland, Paul Weldon Has Passed Away - Death

Paul Weldon Obituary, Death – We would like to express our deepest condolences to everyone on the passing of Dr. Paul Weldon, who served as a respected member of the Biology department’s faculty for over 25 years. The recipient of the Mullan Distinguished Teacher Award in 2007 at Notre Dame was well recognized as an engaging educator. The field trips that Dr. Weldon took his students on will be remembered fondly, particularly those to the American Museum of Natural History in New York City and the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History in Washington, District of Columbia. Through the Smithsonian Conservation Biology Institute, he contributed to the publication of more than 125 research publications as part of his considerable work in the subject.

The NDMU community will grieve his passing in a profound way. There will be a celebration of Dr. Weldon’s life at two separate memorial gatherings that have been scheduled. The first will be a digital gathering that will take place on the 22nd of January at 3:30 p.m. local time. For anyone who are interested in attending, the Zoom link can be requested by sending an email to weldonmemorial@gmail.com. You have until Friday evening at 8:00 p.m. to send any photographs you have of Dr. Weldon to that address; they will be included in a video slideshow that will be played during the memorial service.

The second event will be held at NDMU on Thursday, January 26 at 12:15 p.m., and will take place in Doyle Formal. Community members will have the opportunity to speak about their cherished moments spent with Paul and to personalize stones that will be placed in his honor. Later on this spring, members of the TriBeta Biological Honor Society will place the stones in a circle around a tree that will be planted on campus.
