Following the fatal shooting of a 21-year-old man that took place this weekend in Rodger Young Park in Erie, a suspect has been taken into custody by the Erie Police Department.
Michael Ochrang, 24, has been named as the suspect who is currently in jail by the Erie Police Department. On the morning of January 15, at around 1:20 a.m., officers responded to a shooting that had occurred in Rodger Young Park, which is located at the intersection of Buffalo Road and Downing Avenue. This was a gathering of young people, all of whom were in their early twenties at the time. After the incident, we searched the area and were able to find many firearms there. According to Deputy Chief Rick Lorah of the City of Erie Police Department, “There was a disturbance right previous to the shooting.”
The autopsy of the corpse was set to take place on Monday at noon, and the name of the victim is expected to be made public shortly after that by the Erie County Coroner. According to the officers that responded to the call, they found a 21-year-old guy who had been shot when they arrived on the site. At the site, the victim’s death was confirmed by medical personnel. Rick Lorah, the Deputy Chief of Police, has reported that the investigation into the incident is still ongoing and that there were multiple witnesses present at the site.
