Nic Beukes Death, Obituary – At this time, those of us who participated in the Moodies-BASE Project would like to offer our most sincere sympathies to Professor Nic Beukes and bid him farewell. Professor Nic Beukes, who was extremely competent, kind, and determined, oversaw the entirety of our research project. Recently, he has moved on to better things and is no longer here. Many people in South Africa and other parts of the world look to the way he has carried himself throughout his life as an example of how they ought to carry themselves during their own lives. This is because of the way he has handled himself throughout his life.
Everyone whose life he touched as a mentor, colleague, or family member has the ability to continue paying it forward to others in some form or another. Congratulations go out to the organizations in South Africa such as the Council for Geoscience, which honored him with a lifetime achievement award in the latter half of 2022, and the KLCBT, which, not long afterward, acknowledged the positive geotourism and educational impact that the Moodies-BASE Project, which he managed, had on the Barberton region. Both of these awards were presented in the latter half of 2022.
Both of these honors were bestowed upon their recipients in the second half of 2022. Both of these accomplishments in their respective professions were made possible by the Moodies-BASE Project, which is responsible for bringing them to light. Both of these achievements are deserving of respect and admiration for the amount of effort and commitment that went into achieving them.
