
Mary Tripp Obituary, Death – Mary E. Tripp, 94, a native of Tunkhannock, passed away on January 15 at her daughter’s house. On July 18, 1928, she was born in East Lemon, the daughter of the late Arthur Shaw and Marion Stark Shaw. Both of her parents passed away. After graduating from Tunkhannock High School in 1945, Mary attended the Moses Taylor School of Nursing to obtain her Registered Nurse certification. She also attended Keystone Junior College, where she obtained graduate credits. She took engaged in Wyoming County’s regional American Red Cross branch. Prior to her retirement from the Clark Summit State Hospital, where she had served for a total of 15 years, Mary worked at the Tyler Memorial Hospital for a period of time.
In addition to spending time in the yard and with her cats, Mary loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. Her parents, sisters Jean Loomis and Ruth Davis, brothers Charles Shaw and Arthur Shaw, and parents also predeceased her. Prior to her, her grandparents also passed away. In addition to her grandchildren Mary Miller, Matthew Miller and wife Harley, Grace Miller, Cody Alsop, Justin Alsop, and Joshua Frankevich, she is also survived by her daughters Melissa Alsop and husband Frank of Rhode Island, Laurie Miller and husband Brett of Tunkhannock, and Jennifer Frankevich of Dallas.
She is also survived by her North Carolina-based brother Edward Shaw and his wife Lois, as well as a number of nieces and nephews. The funeral services will take place on Saturday, January 21 at 10:30 a.m. at the Tunkhannock United Methodist Church, which is situated at 4 Church Street in Tunkhannock, Pennsylvania. A visitation will be held at the Harding-Litwin Funeral Home, situated at 123 West Tioga Street in Tunkhannock, Pennsylvania, on Friday, January 20, from 6 to 8 o’clock in the evening. The interment will take place in Tunkhannock’s Starkville Cemetery.
