Margaret Lee Crews Death, Obituary – On Saturday, January 14, 2023, Margaret Lee Crews Cobbs, who had lived at 178 Northwest Blvd. in Danville, Virginia all of her 93 years and had reached the age of 93 when she died away, did so in the comfort of her own home. She was born in Halifax County, Virginia, on September 2, 1929. Her parents, Johnnie E. Crews and Lillian Marable Crews, both passed away before her birth. Since then, none of her parents has survived to this day. After her spouse of many years, Andrew Cobbs, went away before she did, she was left a widow. She was bereft of a son by the name of Stanley
Thomas, as well as two daughters by the names of Billy Jean Cobbs Thomas and Cornelia Diane Cobbs. Additionally, she was bereft of four brothers by the names of Willie E., Johnnie C., Frissell, and Gussie L., as well as three sisters by the names of Mary B. Edmonds, Rosa C. Jennings, and Nannie F. Crews. In addition to her passing, she was predeceased by her husband, Gussie L. Cobbs.
She was a member of the New Arbor Baptist Church located in South Boston, Virginia, and she attended services there regularly. She held a position with the Eastern Medical Group in New York City, which had its headquarters in the metropolis.
She is survived by one sister, Lillian J. Strange, who resides in Danville, Virginia; two sons, Donald Crews and Ricky Cobbs, both of Danville, Virginia, and their wives Deloris and Teresa; eight grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and a large number of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. She was born in Danville, Virginia, and passed away in Danville, Virginia. All of them will hold on to her memories with great affection. The chapel of Howerton Funeral Home will be open for visitation on Thursday, January 19, 2023 from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm in order to accommodate those who wish to pay their respects.
Funeral services will be place at New Arbor Baptist Church on Friday, January 20, 2023 at one o’clock in the afternoon, with Reverend Nelson Stamps serving as the eulogist. The date and time of the services have not yet been determined. The burial will take place at the church cemetery after the funeral service has concluded.
