
Liam Donaghy Death, Obituary – The demise of beloved local newsagent Liam Donaghy has left the community of Portadown in disbelief, as reported by Micheal McKenna. The 17th of January, 2023 Comments Liam Donaghy Following the unexpected demise of a well-known and much-loved newsagent in the town of Portadown, a pall of melancholy has settled over the community as a whole. This morning, Liam Donaghy, who was known for his warm smile and welcoming demeanor, passed away (Tuesday). Along with his sister Marion, Liam, who was then in his fifties, helped run the well-known newsagents on Woodhouse Street that was named after their late mother, Winnie.
They did this together for a number of years. Every day, customers looked forward to seeing him for his charming demeanor, infectious laugh, and kind smile. Liam, of Kilmore Park, was characterized as the loving husband of Maria, the deeply adored father of Shea, the precious son of the late Winnie and Willie, and the brother of Ann, Una, Teresa, and Marion in the obituary that was published after his death. This evening (Tuesday) at 7.30 o’clock, Liam will retire to the home he shared with his late wife. On Thursday, the funeral will leave his former residence at 9:15 in the morning and go to St. Patrick’s Church on William Street in Portadown for a Requiem Mass at 10 in the morning.
Following the service, interment will take place at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Stonebridge. “Our hearts are devastated tonight, to lose such a fantastic cousin and friend to all,” Moy councillor and relative Denise Mullen said in a statement that “our hearts are broken.” These are emotions that were shared by a great number of people who had the privilege of knowing Liam, whether they were friends of his or customers who frequented Winnie’s.
