Kevin Jackson Obituary, Death – At 6:05 this morning, the Sacred Heart Hospice in Darlinghurst informed us that our beloved friend Kevin Jackson had died away. We received this news with heavy hearts. As a result of hearing this, our hearts are filled with an unfathomable amount of grief. Kevin exemplified in every way what it meant to be labeled “a man of the stage” with his charismatic performance.

As a teacher, director, actor, critic, and mentor, he had a great impact on the theatrical scene in this country. His contributions were invaluable. He held the theater and all of the people who worked there in the highest regard. First at NIDA, where he worked as a teacher for 27 years, then at the Hub Studios, and finally in the capacity of a private coach, he had a huge influence as an educator. His credo, “the dramatist is GOD,” functioned as the overarching philosophy for all of the work that he produced.

Since he believed that this was the only way to get to the bottom of a character’s true nature, he insisted on carrying out a painstaking analysis of the text, paying close attention to each and every word, punctuation mark, character note, and stage direction.
