Judge Goodwin Obituary, Death – Judge Alfred Theodore “Ted” Goodwin, who served on the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, passed away in Bend, Oregon, in the year 2022, on the 27th of December. He was 99 years old. Judge Goodwin was born in Bellingham, Washington on June 29, 1923, and he has served as a judge for more than 65 years at this point. At the Bellingham Municipal Court, he presides as the court’s senior judge. That individual is a member. one of only two judges in the entire country who are known to have served on both state and federal trial benches in addition to appellate benches, respectively. Notably, Judge Goodwin had the distinction of being the oldest federal judge in the country at the time of his passing. In addition to this, he held the record for the longest period of uninterrupted service ever achieved by any federal judge in the United States.

At the time, he was in the second year of his undergraduate studies at the University of Oregon (UO), where he was also a member of the Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC). During this time, he was summoned to enlist in the armed forces so that he could serve during World War II. War II. Between the years 1943 and 1946, he was stationed in both Europe and the Far East as part of his military service. After being absent from the University of Oregon for a period of time, Judge Goodwin eventually returned to the school and in 1947 received his bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Oregon. He also held a job at the Eugene Register-Guard during this time, in addition to his duties as editor of the student newspaper.

In 1951, he completed his studies at the University of Oregon School of Law and received the degree of Doctor of Jurisprudence from that institution. Judge Goodwin started his illustrious legal career by working as a lawyer in general practice before he was appointed to his current position as a judge in the Lane County Circuit Court. He has served in this capacity for many years. After that, he was appointed to a position on the Supreme Court of Oregon, and he served in that capacity for almost ten years after being given the position there.
