Joseph Gentile Obituary, Death – Joseph Gentile, age 75, of West Scranton, passed away in comfort on Thursday, November 3, 2022, at his home, after a valiant battle against amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). In 1947, Joe was born in Scranton; he was the son of late Peter A. Gentile and Blanche M. Stahurski Gentile. After completing his high school education at West Scranton High School in 1965 and receiving his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Scranton, he went on to receive his Master of Science degree from the State University of New York at Binghamton.
Joe will be remembered by his surviving brother Peter A. Gentile Jr., his niece Gabriella M. Gentile, and his nephew Peter A. Gentile III, as well as by everyone in the Scranton community who had the pleasure of knowing him. Wednesday will be the day of the funeral, and it will take place at the Solfanelli-Fiorillo Funeral Home Inc., which is located at 1030 N. Main Ave. in Scranton. St. Lucy’s Church, located at 949 Scranton Street, will host a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. on the day of the funeral. After the service, the burial will take place in the Cathedral Cemetery.
Everyone who is attending the funeral is respectfully asked to make their way straight to the church. On Tuesday, from 4-6 pm, the funeral home will be open for visitors, including friends and family, to pay their condolences. In lieu of flowers remembrance, contributions may be made to ALS Association, 1300 Wilson Blvd Suite 600 Arlington, VA.
