Greg Allen Obituary, Death – Greg Allen, who had served as the Chief of Police in El Paso for nearly 15 years until passing away on Tuesday, commanded the agency. Tuesday afternoon, Assistant Chief Zina Silva sent an email to all of the officers in the department to inform them of her husband’s passing. She informed the workers that their cherished leader, Police Chief Gregory K. Allen, had died away earlier today to be with God. “It is with heavy heart that we convey this sad news that our beloved leader Police Chief Gregory K. Allen has passed away to be with God,” she said.
Allen, who is 71 years old and the first African American to reach that status, has been the Chief of Police in El Paso since 2008. “This is a horrible loss for Chief Allen’s family, and it is painful for us, his City family, as he meant so much to both our organization and our community,” said City Manager Tommy Gonzalez. “This is heartbreaking for us, as he meant so much to both our organization and our city.” Roseanne, his wife, and the rest of his family have our sincerest condolences in this difficult time.
Allen was appointed to the position of chief in 2008 by Joyce Wilson, the city manager, who referred to him as “a patrolman’s chief.” Everyone adored and admired him, and he gave his all to the department, his career, and the community. I can’t believe how terrible this is. Because of who he was, I liked him very much despite the fact that we were just friends. He started working for the department in 1978 and quickly moved up the ranks. In recognition of his accomplishments as a martial artist, he was inducted into the El Paso Boxing and Martial Arts Hall of Fame in the year 1995.

El Paso Chief of Police Greg Allen was an amazing son, husband, father, and friend,” El Paso Mayor Oscar Leeser said in a statement. “He was not only an incredible chief of police for the city of El Paso, but he was also an incredible chief of police.” Allen spent his childhood in El Paso and received his high school diploma from Bel Air. His educational background includes a degree from the University of Texas at El Paso.
Ron Stallworth, who grew up in El Paso and went on to have a law-enforcement career in Colorado, Wyoming, and Utah before writing the best-selling book “Black Klansman,” said that the officer had joined an El Paso Police Department that had a history of mistreating Black officers. Even though they were born and raised in El Paso at the same time, Allen and Stallworth did not become acquainted with one another until 2017, when Stallworth retired and moved back to El Paso. “I questioned him, asking him why he wouldn’t let me write his narrative. Cassandra Hernandez, a representative for the city, has stated that she wants to guarantee that both the general public and Allen’s family are involved in the process of honoring Allen for the public service he has provided.
