We are writing to advise you of this news because the District has been given this information. The District has learned of the information, and it is with a heavy heart that we share this information with you at this time. During this difficult time, we want his family, friends, and loved ones to know that they are in our thoughts and prayers.

As a direct consequence of this, it is highly likely that a significant number of the pupils and employees who make up the BCISD school community may experience feelings of shock and melancholy. This is due to the fact that Evan and his family have been associated with the BCISD school community for a considerable amount of time. We encourage you to be attentive to the varied ways in which different people can experience loss and to keep lines of communication open at home with your family members so that they can feel free to process their thoughts and feelings during this time.

We would also like to encourage you to be mindful of the myriad of ways in which individuals can go through the stages of grieving. In addition, we want to make sure that you are aware of the countless unique approaches that individuals might take while going through the grieving process. At Burnet High School, there will be an increase in the number of counselors that are available to employees and students starting on Monday. All of the schools that make up the BCISD offer counseling services of one kind or another.

As a District, we are inconsolable, and all of our thoughts and prayers are with Evan’s family and all of the other people in his life who were significant to him. Our hearts are crushed for Evan. This tragedy has left us in a state of profound mourning. Because the District recognizes the importance of protecting the family’s right to privacy, it will refrain from making any further pronouncements. One and only one exception to this rule will be made when it comes to the purpose of disseminating information about Evan’s services that is already accessible to the general public.
