Donald H. Steiner Death, Obituary – Donald H. Steiner, age 87, of New Holstein, passed away due to a brief heart condition on Tuesday, January 17, 2023 at Ascension Calumet Hospital in Chilton. On July 28, 1935, he was welcomed into the world by his parents, Edwin and Mary (Muellenbach) Steiner. Don received his high school diploma from New Holstein in the year 1954. He wed Charlene Mischo on October 24, 1959, at St. Cloud Catholic Church in St. Cloud; she passed away prior to his passing on February 21, 2015. Don had been employed by M-B in New Holstein for nearly 18 years prior to opening Don & Char’s Triangle Bar in New Holstein, which he and his wife ran together until their retirement in 2002. Don retired in 2002.
Don was the epitome of an outdoorsman; he was an avid sports fisherman and hunter. In addition to that, he officiated games of baseball, basketball, and softball. Don thoroughly enjoyed watching and following the athletic endeavors of all Wisconsin teams. Don served the New Holstein Volunteer Fire Department for many years before retiring from the department. He served in that capacity for a good many years for the New Holstein Pool League. He volunteered a significant amount of his time at Outdoor’s Inc., doing things such as mowing the grass, tending the bar, grilling and cooking for members and fundraisers.
Surviving members of his family include his son, Steve (Janet) Steiner of New Holstein; his two grandchildren, Lisa (Chuck) Grosbier of Antioch, IL and John (Nicole) Peterson of Bloomington, MN; four great-grandchildren, Rayyan Grosbier, Tessa Grosbier, Noah Peterson, and Stella Peterson; a sister-in-law, Donna Sippel Entringer of St. Cloud; numerous niece Don’s grandparents, Edwin and Mary Steiner, his parents, Edwin and Mary Steiner, his wife Charlene, his two brothers, and his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law all passed away before him. On Monday, January 23, 2023, there will be a funeral ceremony performed at the Sippel Funeral Home located at 2618 Altona Avenue in New Holstein,
Wisconsin 53061. The event will begin at 6:30 PM. St. Charles Catholic Cemetery in Charlesburg will be the location of Don’s interment, where he will be laid to rest next to his wife, Charlene. On Monday, January 23, from three o’clock in the afternoon until six fifteen o’clock in the evening, family and friends are invited to call at the Sippel Funeral Home in New Holstein.
