Don Bruce Obituary, Calgary AB, Mourn Don Bruce Death

Don Bruce Obituary, Death – Don (Donnie) Bruce, husband, father, brother, friend, and mentor, has passed away, and it is with great sadness that we share this news with you. On January 11, 2023, at age 82, he died away peacefully in the company of his family following a brief but brave struggle with brain cancer. Don is survived by his wife of 62 years, Marilynn, and his three children and their families, Dean Bruce (Alana), Deanna Jones (Garth), and Darryl Bruce, of whom he was very proud (Jan). Christina (Jer), Katrina, Brendon, Bree, Mikaela (Joe), and Mackenzie are six of his grandchildren who will remember him fondly. Gabriel, Everett, and Mannix, his three great-grandchildren, all miss their old grandpa very much. Don’s brothers Wilf and Gordon (Annette) Bruce also live.

Don, who started his life in Edmonton, eventually settled in Calgary and made a name for himself in the oil and gas industry. Over the course of those years, he forged relationships with many people who would become lifelong friends and mentors to him. While he was retired, he spent time traveling in a campervan across the country and to Australia, Europe, and Central America, where he basked in the warm temperatures. At the lake property in the Shuswap, we used to have many enjoyable summertime get-togethers, including cocktail hours, boating, and golfing.

For example, if Don sang to you on your birthday, you would know that he enjoyed spending time with his loved ones and spreading his boundless sense of humor. Don’s laughter, kindness, mentorship, and general enthusiasm for life will be remembered fondly. He had such a wide range of effects on people that it seems like everyone always has a fresh story to tell about him. Many people will miss him greatly.
