Darryl Williams Death, Obituary – According to Raleigh Police Chief Estella Patterson, the incident started at about 2:00 a.m. on Tuesday outside of a sweepstakes parlor located on Rock Quarry Road near Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard when police approached a suspicious car in the area. The parlor was located in the vicinity of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. Patterson has asserted that the determination to make an arrest was made at some point over the course of the investigation. “During the course of the investigation,” “[Thereafter], the suspect ran away from the policemen,” and “[Thereafter], the investigation continued.”
“During that time span, law enforcement personnel attempted to take the suspect into custody a number of times. As a direct consequence of his defiance, he was shocked with a Taser.” Patterson asserts that the man ran into the neighboring woods after being threatened. “Officers were then able to get the suspect into custody and handcuffed, where he later went unresponsive,” said Patterson. “The individual was then able to be taken into custody by the officers.” After that, “the person in question was able to be taken into custody.” “Our law enforcement officers did take actions that had the potential to save a life, and in addition, they dialed for medical aid.
The patient was sent to the hospital, but he did not make it through his stay there and ultimately lost his battle with illness. No one appeared to have fired any shots, as stated by the reports of the police. Patterson mentioned that there was a total of six law enforcement personnel present during the incident. According to Patterson, the officers have been placed on administrative leave, which is standard procedure after an officer-involved shooting or death that occurred while the victim was in custody and occurred while the officer was there. At this point, the State Bureau of Investigation is being given responsibility for investigating the case.
