Colleen Gates Obituary, Death – Colleen Joy (née Westphal), who had reached the age of 60 years old when she passed away in Winnipeg on March 14, 2021, was a resident of that city. Colleen was born on August 14, 1960 in Wawota, Saskatchewan to her parents, Edna Westphal (née Vail) and Charles Kirk. Colleen was their first child together. She spent her childhood in the same house as her mother, along with her four siblings: Clarence (Carol), Mary Kessler, Joe (Bonnie), and Anne (Lutz).
She would spend her summers on the family farm, assisting her mother in the harvesting of berries and the cultivation of gardens during various times of the year. When she first started attending school, kindergarten was not yet an available option for students. As a result of this, her Aunt Marie Vail came to the conclusion that she should have one at her house with her cousins. Colleen was a gifted artist who was successful in all of her creative activities throughout the entirety of her academic career.
After putting up a valiant effort to beat cancer, Colleen lost her battle with the disease on March 14, 2021. She was loved by a great number of people, and the loss of her presence in the world will be strongly felt by anybody who had the privilege of being able to call her a friend. Heaven has gained a true angel, and there is no question in my mind that she will be contributing in some way to the preparation of the event.
It’s a fair bet that she’ll be in the kitchen telling jokes, mocking our dad, and preparing cookies when we get home tonight. Her children Paul, Scott, and Scott, who is married to Kerri, along with their grandchildren Chase (21), Jake (15), and Abby (13); Sandy, who is married to Vince, along with their grandsons Steven (23), Andrew (17), and Wil (11); and Melissa, who is married to Roger, along with her grandchildren Ava (9) and Miles, will remember her with a great deal of affection (7).
