Bill Reece Obituary, Death – To all of our devoted customers and dear friends who frequent the Smith County Fine Arts Center and Theater:
This poem is being written not without a tremendous sense of melancholy, but also with a profound sense of gratitude for what is being written. Mr. Bill Reece, who served as a director, leader, and friend to many of us, died away on January 3, 2023. He was deeply loved and respected. The majority of you are likely already aware of this. Many people all around our county and beyond are in complete and total disbelief as a result of this loss.
This includes members of the SCFAC committee, actors, support staff, family members, and others. It is a tragedy that we are all working through together, and everyone of us is making progress toward that goal. In addition, we would like to take this opportunity to extend our heartfelt appreciation to everyone who has contacted the funeral home, emailed a message to the funeral house, or come to the funeral home in order to offer us words of love, support, and encouragement.
It was such a lovely tribute to see all of the people who shared their stories, thoughts, and feelings of love for Bill and the S.C.F.A.C. A great number of individuals have contemplated the future of the S.C.F.A.C., voiced their support for it, and inquired as to whether or not it will continue to exist. We feel it is vital to express this because we want everyone to know that the S.C.F.A.C. committee has every intention of continuing to produce high-quality arts for the community, just as Bill would have wanted. Within the next few weeks, the committee will be having meetings and engaging in conversation to establish objectives for our future initiatives as well as ways to make those goals a reality! These meetings and talks will take place to identify goals for our future efforts. A dear friend of ours would frequently exclaim, “The show must go on!” in response to various situations.
