Arthur Oliver Obituary, Death – We learned with great regret of the demise of our Chief Technical Officer and longtime member of EMRA Arthur Oliver. His service to the organization was invaluable (Olly). Unfortunately, Arthur, who had been ill for some time, passed away on January 4 after a long battle with illness. Despite the fact that Arthur’s health was failing, he continued to commit a significant amount of his time to carrying out his responsibilities for the sport and club that he loved. He even went so far as to attend the boxing day Plum Pudding meeting as CTO the previous year.
When Arthur was competing in the EMRA Roadstock series in the early 2000s, he routinely placed in the top three of the championship standings. At that time, he became engaged with the club for the first time. After he cut back on his racing activities, he made the decision that he wanted to assist the club in some way, so he became a technical scrutineer and worked his way up through the ranks to eventually become our CTO.
But more than that, Arthur became a good friend to a large number of riders who were present in the paddock. He was always there to assist and advise any competitor, and he always found the time to smile and joke around. Everyone will miss Arthur very much, and his absence will be felt deeply throughout the racing community at EMRA. We want to express our sincerest condolences to Ryan and the rest of Arthur’s family, who have suffered the loss of a really remarkable person.
