Anthony Maguire Obituary, Head Groundsman Has Passed Away - Death

Anthony Maguire Death, Obituary – Everyone at St. Patrick’s Athletic is in a state of sadness as a result of hearing the news that Anthony Maguire passed away as a result of the illness he was suffering from. Anto was our Head Groundsman for close to two decades, beginning his work with the club in 2003 and continuing until he retired in 2018. During that time, he oversaw all of our landscaping and groundskeeping operations. When Anto was in charge of the facility, he performed an outstanding job managing the care and preservation of Richmond Park.

He paid particular attention to the playing surface, which improved significantly during his tenure and is now considered to be among the best in the league. Maguire was a kind face that was always seen around the stadium for almost twenty years, and he will be sorely missed by everyone there. During this trying time, we want the family and friends of Anto to know that we are thinking of them and sending our condolences. The following statement was released by Anthony Delaney, who serves as the general manager of St. Patrick’s Athletic:

“Everyone at the club was in shock and grief after learning that Anto had passed away. No one could believe it when they heard the news. He was an essential component of the club, and despite the fact that he had just recently retired, he continued to pay frequent visits to the stadium all through the prior season. He did this despite the fact that he was no longer active in the sport. Because of the commitment and effort put in by Anto, we were able to have a stadium and a pitch that everyone, including the players and the fans, took pleasure in visiting and using.

His teammates in St. Patrick’s Athletic and beyond will miss him greatly. Anto’s legacy will live on. During this difficult time, we want the Maguire family to know that they are in our thoughts and prayers. May he finally find peace. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Maguire family during this difficult time.”
